Exceeds Standards

Writing/graphics/frames/storyboard/dialogue/delivery are unique, novel, and engaging. Ideas and style are refreshing and imaginative. Shows insight and acumen. The task becomes secondary to the product.
Meets Standards

The finished product answers all of the questions in the task and provides detail with flashes of insight. The product fulfills the task and holds the reader's attention.
Almost Meets Standards

The finished product is incomplete, unclear, but addresses the task. It shows emerging awareness of audience and catches the attention of the reader.
Does Not Meet Standards

The final product is a rough start without development and answers one or two questions without completion. The product reveals a confused or partial understanding of the task.
Organization and Development

Exceeds Standards

Organization is clear, coherent, and methodical. The logical sequence of sentences support the order of events and dynamic development.
Meets Standards

Organization is consistent. Sentences may lack transitions but allow for a logical sequence of events and establishes order.
Almost Meets Standards

Organization is inconsistent. Some events/sequences are out of order. Lacks transitions with random development.
Does Not Meet Standards

Writing is insufficient to establish length or sequence.
Sentence and Structure

Exceeds Standards

Sentences are varied. Dialog is used effectively. The narrative voice is consistent. There are few errors except when taking risks.
Meets Standards

Sentences are adequate. Voice is evident through narrative style. There may be errors that do not interfere with meaning.
Almost Meets Standards

Some sentences are more developed than others. Demonstrates emerging voice and narrative choices. Errors impede meaning.
Does Not Meet Standards

Poor word choice and descriptions throughout. Elementary word choices and many words misused.
Diction

Exceeds Standards

Word choice creates specificity, shows command, eliminates confusion and builds complexity.
Dialog fleshes out characters and conflicts and depicts the differences between the self and the other with subtle use of figurative language.
Meets Standards

Word choice is varied and deliberate and consistent. Dialog reflects thoughts and motives of characters, creates a distinction between the self and the other, and may or may not use figurative language.
Almost Meets Standards

Word choice is concrete but may lack consistency. Dialog shows partial control and reveals the self but not the other.
Does Not Meet Standards

Word choice is emerging and impedes understanding.
Spelling and Grammar

Exceeds Standards

Adheres to conventions but takes risks and may or may not be successful in those attempts.
Meets Standards

May contain errors that do not impeded meaning.
Almost Meets Standards

Emerging control of conventions may impede meaning or are too many to engage the reader.
Does Not Meet Standards

Errors demonstrate gaps in understanding of conventions.
