Form	Level One Poems are not written in the proper forms, ultimately diminishing the poetic value of the writer's collection.	Level Two Poems are somewhat written in the proper forms, while others stray significantly or are written as prose.	Level Three Poems are mostly written in the proper forms.	Level Four Poem are complete and follows its intended form.
Word Usage	Level One Student’s use of<BR> vocabulary is<BR> very basic.	Level Two Student’s use of<BR> vocabulary is<BR> more telling than<BR> showing.	Level Three Student’s use of<BR> vocabulary is<BR> routine and<BR> workable.	Level Four Student’s use of<BR> vocabulary is<BR> precise, vivid,<BR> and paints a<BR> strong clear and<BR> complete picture<BR> in the reader’s<BR> mind.
Media	Level One Lacks an<BR> illustration or decoration.	Level Two Uses an<BR> illustration that<BR> may add to the<BR> poem’s meaning.	Level Three Uses an<BR> illustration to<BR> enhance the<BR> poem’s meaning.	Level Four Effective and<BR> creative use of<BR> an illustration<BR> enhances the<BR> poem’s meaning.
Language Conventions Spelling, punctuation, grammar.	Level One There are numerous spelling or grammar errors, making the poem difficult to understand. Puncutation is used incorrectly.	Level Two The poet's intended meaning is muddled by several spelling or grammar errors. Punctuation may be misused.	Level Three A couple of spelling or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish the meaning of the poem. Punctuation is utilized when necessary.	Level Four Proper use of modern English spelling and grammar is employed consistently throughout the poem. Punctuation is utilized when necessary.
