	Excellent (100%) 5 pts	Fair (60%) 3 pts	Poor (20%) 1 pts
Critical Thinking	Excellent (100%) -Response shows that the student has put a great deal of thought into the response -the ideas show student is "thinking outside the box" -demonstrates understanding of the prompt	Fair (60%) -student has a complete entry but may not be thinking deeply about the topic -entry feels rushed -needs to push ideas/thoughts to a deeper level	Poor (20%) -entry is incomplete or surface-level -off topic -lack of thought or effort
Organization	Excellent (100%) -long enough to clearly answer all parts of the prompt -clear and easily understood -stays on topic -transitions used appropriately	Fair (60%) -writing is confused -thoughts skip around -includes some transitions -answers the prompt	Poor (20%) -off topic -disorganized and undeveloped -does not answer prompt
Conventions	Excellent (100%) -few errors in writing that do not disrupt readability -written in complete sentences	Fair (60%) -errors in writing may disrupt readability -incomplete sentences	Poor (20%) -response is difficult or impossible to read
