Geometry Math Journal Entries

This rubric will be utilized when evaluating student journal entries involving essential questions at the end of each unit. The entry will be worth 40 classroom points.

Sentences & Paragraphs	No/Minimal Response No sentences.	Poor Many sentence fragments or run-on sentences or paragraphing needs lots of work.	Fair Less then two paragraphs are included. Most sentences are complete and well-constructed.	Good At least two paragraphs are included. Sentences are complete, well-constructed, mostly clear and have some descriptive language.	Excellent Two or more paragraphs are included. Sentences are complete, well-constructed, clear and used descriptive language.
Ideas/Clarity	No/Minimal Response No ideas or clarity.	Poor It is very difficult to figure out what the entry is about.	Fair Ideas are somewhat organized, but were not very clear.	Good Ideas are expressed in a pretty clear manner, but the organization could have been better.	Excellent Ideas are expressed in a clear and organized fashion.
Mathematical Terminology	No/Minimal Response No writing.	Poor Writing is incomplete.	Fair Few mathematical terms and symbols are incorporated; those included are rarely used appropriately.	Good Mathematical terms and symbols are incorporated and usually used appropriately.	Excellent Mathematical terms and symbols are incorporated throughout and always used appropriately.
