Tribute Speech
	Excellent Exceeds the expectations 5 pts	Good Students had clear structure with delivery. 4 pts	Fair Students had the delivery but not the structure. 3 pts	Poor Student presentation did not follow the assignment. 2 pts
Intro	Excellent Clear attention getter which connected to speech. Audience orientation with specific goal with narrow focus. Clear credibility connects to the topic. Ended with thesis previewing the main points.	Good Introduction almost complete, not as strong as it could be. Needs improvement in one of the following: Attn, Orientation, credibility, thesis.	Fair Speaker began with specific goal, thesis, than attention getter. Needs two of the three: attn, orient, credibility or thesis. Speaker needs to tighten up introduction.	Poor Speaker went directly to explain the body of the speech. Speech lacked overall organization.
Body	Excellent Main points from thesis restated precisely in the body. Clear separation of claims from the evidence. Transitions were evident and fitting.	Good Speaker reversed the order of the main points. Speaker omitted claim and went directly to evidence. Used only one transition.	Fair Main points didn't reflect the thesis but used other words. Speaker spoke too longer on 1st point and did not allowing time to complete the 2nd point. Easy to understand. Transitions were hard to separate.	Poor Did not follow the assignment. Could not follow the structure. Speaker just went off the top of their head.
Support	Excellent Support is well developed. States main point, follows with claim, gives evidence and explains what it means. Cites two distinct non-Internet sources with credible resources. Oral citation includes: author, source, title, and date.	Good Support it stated but not explained. Need to use diverse types of resources. Speaker needs to cite all facts, figures, and data. Speaker only includes name, missing the complete citation.	Fair Makes claim with poor evidence. Support not evenly balanced.	Poor Speaker missed source citation. Need to use credible resources. Delivery	Excellent Eye Contact 85% or higher which scanned entire audience. Lively facial expression & gestures matched the message. No verbal pauses. Polished delivery. Clear vivid language. Enthusiastic voice Scanned note cards appropriately.	Good Eye Contact was in 75% range. Varied eye contact through most of the speech. Seemed slightly nervous. Little movement almost a bit stiffed. Language needed to be a little more tuned to the senses of the talk. Used 3-5 filler or unfilled pauses. Needed one more practice.	Fair Reasonable eye contact in 60%. Reasonable amount of comfort. Remained behind the podium. Little or no movement. Deliver was matter of fact, here is what you need to know. Needed to practice a few more times. 5-10 fillers or pauses.	Poor Read from a script or memorized. No audience interaction. Clearly unprepared. Excess of filler or pauses.
Conclusion	Excellent Restated the thesis. Restate the importance of the topic. Ended in the same way speech began. Topic appropriate. Followed time limit 4 minutes.	Good Speech was missing missing thesis, importance of to attention getter. Speech ended at 3: 30 which is :30 seconds under time.	Fair Conclusion only has 1/3 of the required information. Speaker uses slightly different attention getter to close the speech. Speech used persuasive appeal. Speech ended one minute short at 3:00.	Poor Speech lacked a formal conclusion it just ended. Conclusion was there but hard to distinguish. Speaker ran over time and there was no conclusion. Speech ended in less than 3:00 minutes. Clearly unprepared.
