Key Signature Composition

Students will write 8 measures in bass clef and 8 measure in treble clef. They will use 2 different key signatures.

	Fair 1 pts	Good 2 pts	Excellent 3 pts
Identified Do	Fair Students did not identify Do for their beginning or ending pitched, but they do match. The pitched is played in the composition correctly.	Good Students identified their Do for their beginning pitch OR their ending pitch, but they do NOT match. The pitch is played in the composition correctly.	Excellent Students Identified their Do, beginning pitch and their ending pitch are the same. Their pitch is correct and is played in the composition correctly.
Completed Measures	Fair Students did not complete 8 measures, but completed some in both clefs.	Good Students did complete 8 measures. The total 16 measures are in treble clef OR bass clef.	Excellent Students completed 8 measures in their compositions. They have bass clef and treble clef. -3 points for EACH clef.
Rhythm Variety	Fair Students use little variety of rhythms. They use 2 different types of notes and no rests are used. The rhythmic line is boring and too easy to play.	Good Students used some variety of rhythms that they have learned throughout. They use the some of the notes given and rests, but do not use all and the line isn't as interesting.	Excellent Students use a variety or rhythms that they have learned throughout. They used rests, quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, 16th notes, 8th notes, etc. It has an interesting rhythmic line.
