Screenplay II Exercises In class screenwriting exercises to improve writing.

Following Directions 25 % Has the student followed the directions of the assignment?	Unacceptable Writer includes none of the directives of the exercise.	Marginal Writer includes not all, but a few of the directives of the exercise.	Acceptable Writer includes not all, but most of the directives of the exercise.	Excellent Writer completed the work incorporating all of the directives of the exercise.
Completion 20 % Did the student adequately complete the assignment?	Unacceptable Less than 50% of the Screenplay exercise was completed by the end of the session. Screenwriting Format 20 %	Unacceptable Writer has more than seven errors in screenwriting format and these errors are consistent throughout the screenplay.	Marginal Writer has between five to seven errors with screenwriting format and the errors are inconsistent throughout the screenplay (i.e. sometimes done correctly, other times are errors).	Acceptable Looking at all pages, the formatting is correct for the most part, with no more than five formatting errors to completely distract a reader.	Excellent Looking at all the pages, writer follows proper screenwriting format, including but not limited to character names, loglines, parentheticals, etc.
Creativity 15 % The overall idea; the concept you lay down.	Unacceptable The creativity of the work is not well defined and dawdles in the mundane and rife with cliches.	Marginal Creativity is at an acceptable level, though it mostly waddles in the mundane.	Acceptable The work is at times, but not always, creative, inventive, and well focused. Character 10 % Characters are three-dimensional (they have motivation, purpose, and have human-like and/or heroic qualities) and are realistic.
