VOCAL QUALITY
Excellent
voices were loud and clear; words were easily understood
Good
actors spoke clearly but it was difficult to understand some of the script and/or some students could've spoken louder
Fair
actor's voices were not very clear, some students mumbled; some students could've been louder; some stammering ("uhs", "ums", "ahs", ets)
Needs Work
could not understand what was being said due to the majority of the actor's unclear and/or low speech.
BLOCKING
Excellent
good use of the "stage" and movement - - no one's back was turned to the audience at any time
Good
used almost the entire "stage" - - actors turned away from the audience only once or twice
Fair
actors could've used more of the stage; must concentrate on facing the audience
Needs Work
actors needed more blocking - - barely faced the audience
MEMORIZATION
Excellent
script was fully memorized OR students successfully improvised in place of lines
Good
script was almost fully memorized; mostly successful when some improvisation was used to make up for missed lines
Fair
script was partially memorized; student(s) who forgot lines did not attempt to improvise
Needs Work
script was not memorized; no improvisation was used.
CHARACTERS
Excellent
All characters were unique, interesting and well "fleshed out", and "3 dimensional"
Good
most of the characters were created well, but perhaps one was only "w dimensional"
Fair
characters were present but needed more work in order to make them more well rounded.
Needs Work
characters were present but more work was needed to make them more engaging
FACIAL EXPRESSIONS/BODY LANGUAGE
Excellent
All actors showed great use of gestures, facial expressions and body movement
Good
most actors used varied facial expressions, gestures and body movement
Fair
some actors needed more facial expressions, gestures and movement
Needs Work
actors showed little to no facial expression, gestures and/or movement
STORY
Excellent
8-10 elements of a fairytale were featured; the story "flowed" seamlessly;the audience was engaged
Good
6 -7 elements of a fairytale were featured; in a creative manner; the story "flowed" well.
Fair
4 -5 elements of a fairytale were featured, the storyline may have had some points that seemed "off track" or to not transition as well as others
Needs Work
less than 4 elements of a fairytale; hard to follow and/or ideas or scenes seemed randomly arranged
PROPS
Excellent
Each actor had props and a costume. The props and costumes were colorful and enhanced the performance.
Good
Most actors had props and costumes. The props were suited to the performance and used effectively to add to the performance.
Fair
Some actors had props and costumes which added to the performance.
Needs Work
There were minimal props and costumes. OR the props were too small, or not colorful enough to add to the performance.
