Five Paragraph Esssay
	Emerging 2 pts	Average 3.5 pts	Excellent 5 pts
Introduction Paragraph	Emerging Less that three sentences long.	Average Three sentences long. Introduces the three topics.	Excellent Four to five sentences long. Introduces the three topics for the body paragraphs and catches the reader's attention
Body Paragraphs	Emerging Either less that three paragraphs or barely describes the topics.	Average Three paragraphs. Each paragraph basically describes the three topics.	Excellent Minimum of three paragraphs. Each paragraph describes/supports the three topics excellently.
Conclusion Paragraph	Emerging Less than three sentences.	Average Three sentences long. Briefly summarizes essay.	Excellent Three to five sentences long. Summarizes the essay excellently by restating the introduction.
Followed Directions	Emerging Did not complete research as directed or did not format as directed. Did not turn in the essay on time.	Average Completed most research, followed formatting, and turned in the essay less than one day after due date.	Excellent Completed all necessary research, followed formatting, and turned in the essay on time.
