The conclusion makes sense and provides a clear answer to the question, "So what?"	Meets standard Introduction clearly states the main topic. Uses basic language and states supporting details. The conclusion is logical and adequately answers the question, "So what?"	Approaches standard Introduction is somewhat clear, uses basic language and does not state supporting details. The conclusion is logical but does not answer the question, "So what?"	Unacceptable No introduction. Conclusion is illogical or does not exist.
Body Paragraphs	Exceeds Standard Contains topic sentence, explanation that demonstrates mastery and depth of understanding.	Meets standard Contains explanation that logically supports the details.
