Fair The ideas are evident although not clear or deeply discussed, the essay is somewhat structured but difficult to follow, there are some transitions, and there is a thesis.	Good The thesis is clearly stated, the paper is mostly well organized, transitions are apparent but some clarity or deeper analysis is lacking.	Excellent The thesis is clear, the paper is well organized with transitions between quotes and paragraphs, the ideas are analyzed or discussed in depth.
New Holiday Rationale Does the student describe the new holiday and why it should be included?	Poor There is little/no discussion of the new holiday.	Fair The paper includes a minor description of the holiday or the rationale to include it.	Good The paper adequately describes the new holiday or adequately explains the holiday's inclusion, but not both.	Excellent The paper effectively describes the new holiday, and explains the student's decision in detail.
New Holiday Celebration Does the student describe how to celebrate the new holiday and explain why?	Poor There is little/no discussion of possible celebrations.
