Rubric to use with News cast Earth Science reports. Students must perform a news cast about an area of earth science.

Creativity/Style	Good Work is very creative and shows flair for writing. Writer demonstrates a unique style.	Fair Writer shows some creativity in this composition, however, a strong voice is not present.	Poor Some original thought went into the writing but there is not enough written. Writer does not demonstrate distinct style.	Unacceptable No original thought put into the article/report. Minimal requirements not met.
Script	Good There are few errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. <BR> Format is correct. All re-enactments are written in the script.	Fair There are some distracting errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc., but overall meaning is still clear. Format is mostly correct.	Poor There are many distracting errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. Format is not entirely correct.	Unacceptable There are several severe errors in spelling, grammar, puntuation, etc. that are distracting to the reader. The format is completely incorrect.
Content	Good Information is relevant, complete, and reads like a real news report. All facts are correct. Re-enactments are appropriate to the story. Contains at least 6 facts.	Fair Article covers most of the content but leaves out some key details. Some facts are incorrect. Contains 4-5 facts.	Poor Article makes no attempt to connect as a whole. All parts of the required information are not present. Contains 2-3 facts.	Unacceptable Little information is given in the writing. Contains fewer than 2 facts.
Presentation	Good Presenter was very impressive with a clear voice, eye contact, and full development of the news report.	Fair Presenter had a clear voice, made minimal eye contact with audience, and the length was satisfactory.	Poor Presentation was too short with little to no eye contact made with the audience.	Unacceptable Presentation was not performed or previously taped for the class.
Performance	Good The group appears to have rehearsed and the performance flows smoothly. All members know what they should be doing.	Fair The group is not well organized. Appears that they have had minimal rehearsal.	Poor The group is very unorganized. Members do not know what they are supposed to do.	Unacceptable The group shows no previous preparation.
Indvidual Participation	Good Group member willingly and enthusiastically participated in the project.	Fair Group member participated in the project.	Poor Group member had to be redirected several times to work with the group on the project.	Unacceptable Group member refused to work on the project.
