Proficient Responses are well developed and remain on-topic for the most part.	Developing Responses are somewhat developed and remain on-topic some of the time.	Emerging Responses are underdeveloped and do not remain on-topic.
Connections	Extending Student makes text-to-self, activity-to-self, or world-to-self connections throughout their journal.	Proficient Student sometimes makes text-to-self, activity-to-self, or world-to-self connections mostly throughout their journal.	Developing Student attempts to make text-to-self, activity-to-self, or world-to-self connections in some of their journal.	Emerging Student makes no attempts to make a text-to-self, activity-to-self, or world-to-self connections in their journal.
