Food Project

Students will cook an authentic Hispanic meal to share with the class. With the dish, students will create a poster display for the recipe.

Dish authenticity 50 pts The dish prepared is traditionally eaten in a Spanish-speaking country and is prepared in an authentic style.	Excellent Student prepared a dish that is authentic and culturally relevant to a Spanish-speaking country. Research supports the authentic label.	Satisfactory Dish is inspired by the cuisine of a Spanish-speaking country, but is not a dish traditionally eaten in a Spanish-speaking country (i.e. Tex-Mex or Americanized versions of authentic dishes).	Not Satisfactory Dish is not authentic or no dish was prepared.
Dish Preparation 30 pts The dish should be well-prepared, home made, and enough to feed roughly 30 people a tasting portion.	Excellent The dish is well-prepared and of sufficient quantity.	Satisfactory The dish is not well prepared OR not of sufficient quantity.	Not Satisfactory Dish is not well prepared AND not of sufficient quantity. OR No dish was turned in.
Infographic 20 pts Student submitted an infographic that includes the name of the dish, its country/countries of origin, the recipe for the dish, and notable cultural facts (i.e. is it prepared for a certain event or tradition? does it have traditional pairings/sides? was it's development representational of a cultural and/or historical development in that area?)	Excellent Infographic includes all required components and is aesthetically pleasing and easy to read.	Satisfactory The infographic is missing 1 or 2 components but is aesthetically pleasing and easy to read. OR The infographic has all the components but is NOT aesthetically pleasing and easy to read.	Not Satisfactory Infographic lacks more than 2 components AND is not aesthetically pleasing and easy to read. OR No infographic was turned in.
