Rubric for evaluating student presentations

As an intro into the advent season students will use video cameras (or their phones) to make a movie using iMovie software on their interpretation of the true meaning of the Advent season or Christmas.. These movies will be used to both help the students get to know each other better and will also be used to see how familiar the students are with using video camera's as well as iMovie software to put together the movies.

This rubric is meant to help guide in the creation of your presentation or project. Each category in the far left column represents a component (part) of the project that will be taken into consideration when calculating the final grade for this assignment. Students are to create an original work of art that represent at least 3 elements of art or principles of design. All principles are to be integrated into one and must fill the entire page. Colored pencils are to be used for color. You may use as much or little color, depending on your creative choices. You may use more than 3 elements if that is what you choose. On the back of the sheet you must list the elements you chose in your design. Scrap paper provided.

The completion of the website design session will conclude with each student presenting the website to the teacher. Each website will be graded according to the following rating scale.

Religion 8-1 - Integrated

Students are to choose a Social Justice issue based on Human Rights and create a public service announcement script. In the PSA students are to raise awareness for the issue by briefly describing the issue, and providing relevant and accurate facts, and finally encouraging viewers to take positive action concerning the issue. They will refer to or exhibit research with clear data to support their opinion.

Student will generate criteria to evaluate the presentations of their classmates

Students are to choose a Bill of Rights issue learned in class and create a public service announcement script. In the PSA students are to raise awareness for the law by briefly describing the issue, and providing relevant and accurate facts, and finally encouraging viewers to take positive action concerning the issue. They will refer to or exhibit charts and graphs to back up their announcement with clear data.

Students give a 5 minute presentation - 20 slides/15 seconds each to inform classmates on assigned topics.

Students chose a book to read independently and then review. The review incorporates information about the book's characters, setting, plot, genre, theme, and writing style.

The poster will contain relevant information directly related to the theme of Bullying/"Look At Me, I'm Drug Free"/Anti-Smoking. Students will provide bullying scenarios and demonstrate bullying mediation techniques in a creative and colorful poster/pictures or scenarios displaying a "Drug Free" individual/pictures or scenarios following a anti-smoking theme. The poster will be designed on poster board (1/2 or full-sized poster board).
