This is a rubric for a documentary created for a historical event in Nicaragua

Create a journal entry for a fictional - historical character. 1st paragraph: character introduction. 2nd paragraph; describe the historical event. 3rd paragraph; character's thoughts on the event. 4th paragraph; how does the character see the future. Each entry should make connections to actual people, lifestyle and events of the historical period being studied and include at least 4 paragraphs with 5 sentences in each paragraph.

An essay will be written on this person including personal information, qualities, influences, and contributions. This biography needs at least 5 paragrahs, which includes a strong introduction and conclusion.

The students will model their speeches on Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" Speech. Students will create a 3-5 minute speech to share with the class on something they would like to accomplish or see changed in the world.

Students will give a persuasive speech to their peers exploring which form of Imperialism is more effective. They will be assessed on use of persuasive language, content and research.

You need to design a cover for your magazine. Your magazine cover can be based off of an existing magazine, for example use the layout and name of Teen magazine, but design your own photos, titles and story lines or create your own. Students must pick 5 topics to include in their magazine. Be creative.

Students will research an Ancient Civilization Characteristic( System of Government, Social Structure, Highly Developed Culture, Written Language, Religious System, Advances in technology and Stable food supply) and design a Piktochart highlighting their chosen civilization's characteristic. The assignment requires research, creation of an infographic using Piktochart, and a short presentation using their infographic to help other students to learn about Ancient Civilizations.

Pretend you are a reporter and write a newspaper article based on the Kent State Massacre. Include answers to the questions; who, what, where, when, why and how. Your article must address all five "Ws:" who, what, where, when, and why. In addition, your article must have a headline. Be sure to include information from the perspective of the people affected during these historical event.

The Presentation Team must present their unit guide, as a team, to the class. Each member of the presentation team must choose PowerPoint, Keynote, iMovie, Piktochart or Educreations to present the assigned terms. You will earn a grade that reflects the accuracy and detail of your research, and the quality of the presentation of your terms.The team collaboration grade will be based on how effectively you perform your role as a member of the team.

After analyzing the Star Spangled Banner, students will research the Battle of Baltimore and Francis Scoot Key to create a play based on historical events.
