The group will research several aspects of the fair. The final plan should include 1) a schedule of the day’s events, 2) a list of supplies, 3)a menu of the food to be served, 4) sketches or pictures of the costumes to be worn, 5) a list of games to be played, 6) a list of the entertainment for the day, 7) names of ceremonies to take place, 8) a list of any speeches to be presented, 9) a list of vendors, 10) pictures, drawings, or actual signs (posters) to announce the fair.

For this project you need to pick an important scene from the play and perform it. You can choose to act out the scene with some friends. Your final project will need to be recorded onto a DVD or a file off an I-pad or I-phone that can be shared via email. You will be graded on your skill in reading the lines (see the elements that will be graded for the dramatic reading), your use of props, costumes, and the overall creativity of your project.

If Romeo and Juliet had fallen in love today, their communication would have probably occurred via text. Rewrite their conversations from the play in text form. One student can write Romeo’s part and one can write Juliet’s. Although you will use modern language, be sure to keep the original meaning.

You will be creating your very own newspaper based on the play Romeo and Juliet. Your newspaper title and all that the paper contains must be about the story line. You may have an obituary section, editorial, cartoon, society news, fashion, advertisements, etc. This should look like an actual newspaper. Every team, is required to write at least 3 articles, contribute a drawing, create an 3 ads, and another article of your choice.

Make a poster that a movie theater might display to advertise the movie. Emphasize parts of the story that have box-office appeal, such as the fight scenes and romance. Illustrate the poster with an enticing scene.

Create a diorama (3-d objects) that depicts a scene of the play. You should use an old shoebox and decorate it as if you were creating a set for an actual performance of the play. You will also need to create a one-page written description of your scene and what the scene is about. Writing and grammar rules apply. You will be graded on the accuracy of your set design, the appearance of your set design, and the creativity of your project.
