This rubric helped me to assess a 5-page research/position paper completed by my junior English class. The purpose of the paper was for students to argue a position either for or against one of three statements pertaining to the controversy surrounding Mark Twain's 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.'

This is a binder check rubric that will help students to better organize their binders.

Students are to create a timeline (can be horizontal, vertical, diagonal, etc) concerning important events in history. There should be no less than 5 items on the timeline.

Project to show understanding of planets and the solar system. Planet requirements: • Name of planet • Picture of planet • Distance from planet • Length of day (rotation) • Length of year (revolution) • Number of moons Name only the important moons or rings • Type of planet (terrestrial or gaseous) • Describe the atmosphere and weather of the planet. • Give at least three interesting facts about the planet

This rubric will assess the use of research to support a position on the practice of banning books, using a specific banned or challenged book as the guiding example.

Students need to have journal entries. You will put all journal entries in your portfolio folder with all questions and responses to the question. Requirements: Have a journal notebook Have journal entry questions and responses All stray papers must be stapled into journal notebook

A final composition consisting of 15 - 20 events that have compiled throughout the semester.

Students are to complete a weekly current events report using the following rubric as part of their Weekly U.S. Government Events Project.

Students will write a positional paper about a pre-approved topic within the discipline of U.S. Government. The paper will argue a perspective and persuade the reader to the stated point of view.
