Value Composition in Graphite/Color Pencil
Value Composition in Graphite and/or Color Pencils Composition demonstrates students ability to create an Illusion of volume/form using the element of Art:Value/ principle of composition. Composition uses all shapes/forms studied that overlap; value is added to the contour drawing using one or more of the methods taught in class (value scale only)Composition shows at least 3-4 values of shading and includes the 5 Principles of Shading: highlight, shade, shadow, reflected light and backshading.

Grid Drawing
Using a digital photo, grid the photo in a 1" grid. Then create an inch and a half grid on your drawing paper to transfer your drawing to. After transferring your drawing using the grid, use two-three different pencil leads to shade your drawing. You will be graded on measurement, shading and texture techniques(hair quality), craftsmanship, and effort.

Student will create a design that demonstrates the elements of art (line, shape, color, space, form, space, and texture). The design should demonstrate an understanding of the elements of art. Students are encouraged to incorporate symbols and elements that reflect their personality and interests.

Students will use more than one color in drawing to show depth . Students will have a critique within their group that will allow for revision.
