This book report will contain multiple paragraphs and will be limited to one page. Student name, date and block should appear in upper right corner of the page. First: The report should include the title and author of the book and a complete description of the main characters. Second: Descriptive Settings should be included (When and where did the story takes place?). Third: The main events should be included (What happened in the story?). Fourth: Why did you like or dislike the book? Fifth: Would you recommend this book to other fifth graders. Sixth: The report should include a summary of the author's overall message and/or the theme of the book. 4-EP, 3-SP, 2-LP, 1-PA

Students will give a short oral presentation to the class on their nonfiction book. They will give the title of the book, author, and at least 8 interesting facts from the book in a logical, sequential manner. Following their presentation they will answer two questions to clarify listeners' questions. a

Use a vocabulary graphic organizer whenever you are assigned a word to define as a bellringer, classwork, or homework. This organizer requires the student to draw a picture showing the meaning of the word.

Create a board game that reflects aspects of the entire movie. Questions that show insight will earn higher marks than those that are simply recall questions. Your board game can be based on one that is already in existence such as Monopoly or Trivial Pursuit. The final project should include connections between the movie and other real world or fictional experiences, plot points that show the plot progression.

They will give the title of the book, author, and at least 8 or more interesting facts they learned from the book in a logical, sequential manner. Following their presentation they will answer questions from classmates. As a listener, they will not distract others while a peer is presenting. If they ask a question, it will be related to the information presented, not a general question.

Pretend your book has been made into a movie. Create a POSTER to advertise your "movie"(book). Your poster should be easy to read from 20 feet away. Be creative. AVOID: Do NOT copy the Book's cover...this will result in a grade of zero. Also avoid, sloppy picture and lettering, colors that do not work together, late work and lack of effort. Your poster will not have white space---unless it is a part of the picture, a uniform, whites of people's eyes etc......Include full heading on back of poster along with a summary of the poster.

• Your book report should be creative and neat. • The final project TYPE will be your choice. Each project MUST INCLUDE the following items in some form: • A “cover page” with your name, the title of the book, the author’s name, and a reader’s review (YOURS!) of the book, rating it from 1 (really bad) to 10 (LOVED it!). • Illustrations representing the book, either drawn or copied and printed, are included. • Some format representing the main characters, minor characters, main plot line, major conflict and resolution, and settings. • Proper mechanics--NO spelling or grammatical errors; grade-level effort is shown in writing and illustrations. • Project is chosen from acceptable types and is NOT a duplicate of yours OR another student’s in type or content.
