ELA class writes a short mystery story.

Evaluate each student's cooperative group skills and task performance and enter a rating for each group work responsibility. Circle the number that best fits their performance.

The purpose of this unit is to facilitate student learning about the world in which we live. Students will receive a 'My Country' packet to complete. The student will pretend that he/she is going to visit their assigned country for 8-10 days and will make round trip travel arrangements to and from their assigned country. To be prepared for the trip, the student will use technology to conduct internet research in order to be able to answer questions about their assigned country’s resources, culture, government, religion, geography, political atmosphere, social events, recreational pastimes, history, economics, etc. After the student has gathered all of the research, they will synthesize the information and write a report about their country and then create a power point presentation to go with their report.

We use this rubric to evaluate speakers at our public speaking club. Feel free to use it for yours.

Research the approved topic. Submit 3-5 typed pages of publishing the results of your research. Include a Works Cited page with at 3-5 sources used researching the paper. Paper will be graded on suffiency of research to support the thesis, effective use of information gained through research, credibility of sources, and relevance of included information. Grade will be based on organization, clarity, use of transitions, appropriate voice, correct citation format, grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Students will give a persuasive speech to their peers. They will be assessed on content and delivery.

Groups choose from case scenarios supplied by the teacher (or created by their individual group) and present their findings, with support from relevant literature, theory and class discussions, defending their formulation, recommendations and interventions they would utilize in order to enhance existing family coping strategies or remove a child from a high-risk family.

This is the final project for the poetry unit. The students create a poetry portfolio containing 5 poems they have written. The poems demonstrate their understanding of poetic devices and style.
