Educational Philosophy

I believe that what I will bring into teaching or into my class will hopefully be the same every time. I want to be a good teacher throughout my teaching career, not just at the beginning when the atmosphere is new and the thought of my very own classroom is fresh at mind. I know that I will push my students to be themselves and to believe in themselves in any aspect in their lives, not just at class subjects. I want to be a teacher that is always smiling and ready to help a student achieve their best. I know that I will bring the love of participation in my classroom when I begin teaching, as I will be myself involved in what my students do on a regular basis. I know that I do not want to be the teacher sitting at the side of the pool marking papers and not being involved with her students who are swimming. For students to truly enjoy what they are learning they must be taught by a teacher who actually enjoys teaching and who is willing to do anything she asks of her students. Moreover, I want to be a teacher who is not scared to make mistakes and let her students know. There is so much pressure placed on teachers to know everything and be able to teacher everything easily, but I will make sure that when I make these inevitable mistakes I will be able to model properly to my students that you learn from mistakes. I will also be a teacher who is not too scared to try new and interesting things to get students to enjoy their subjects and curriculum. I will make sure that I am able to admit when a lesson or unit does not go as planned because this way I will be able to teacher better another time. I think that I have come so far in what I have learned from my previous teachers and what mistakes I have seen from teachers of my past that I will only do my best as a person to be the best teacher I can be. I also will be a self-reflective teacher who reflects on her days and lesson amongst other colleagues or even just in a journal. I believe that reflection is so important in teaching because as the years pass, we tend to forget why things may have worked or may have not worked so well. So in keeping my reflections I will be able to understand where I could have gone wrong and then proceed to make any changes to allow for proper progress. I think teaching will be an enjoyable career for me and i cannot wait to start my profession.
