Employment History:

 

Continuing Education Teacher with Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board- Portuguese Teacher – Sep 2005 to June 2007

 

- Responsible for a class room of children on Saturday mornings (2005: Grade 3, 2006: Jk-1).

- Teach the Portuguese language using a designated book created by the Toronto Catholic District School Board as well as devise other activities for students who complete work early.

- Provide daily lesson plans for the class.

- Rotated in recess duty with other teachers.

- Prepare and correct tests and activities for each class session and implement marks and grades that go on student’s record with Dufferin-Peel.

 

 

Santa Clones – Elf/Cashier/night time supervisor – Nov 2000 to Dec 2006                     

                                               

- Responsible for cashing out at the end of the night, maintaining a cash balance, dealing with customers and making sure that the workers are doing their jobs.

- Interact with children as they visit with Santa before and after their photos are being taken.

- Provide an exciting and realistic visit to Santa’s Castle.

 

Tutor – March 2001 – June 2001

 

- Tutored a grade 2 student in mathematics, language and reading.

- Assisted in the completion of homework and assignments.

Teaching Assistant Volunteer – June 2001 to Nov 2007

 

- Assisted teacher with photocopying and preparation of assignments.

- Corrected assignments and tests while including feedback for the student and parents.

- Implemented grades into databases and personal marking sheets.

- Worked with students personally or in small groups with art, mathematics and language.

- Assisted in creating activities booklets and Ceremonial programs (Confirmation, Communion, graduation and school plays).

- Accompanied class on class trips to the Toronto Zoo and to a Mississauga food bank.

- Volunteered every year in a different grade (2, 8 and 7).

 

Co-Operative Education Program - Teaching Assistant – Sep 2001 to 2002

 

- Was placed in a grade 2 classroom for 432.5 hours four times a week.

- Assisted teacher with photocopying and preparation of assignments.

- Devised a lesson plan on a math assignment about time and taught the lesson to the class   which was followed by assigned desk work.

- Worked closely and had personal interactions with small groups of children on daily basis as they completed their group work in art, language and reading.

- Interacted with other staff members and school principle.

 

Religion Retreat Leader – 2000 - 2002

 

- Responsible for a group of grade 9 students on the yearly grade 9 religion retreat.

- Directed activities, prayers and sharing seminars for the students.

- Organized lunch and snacks for students.

 

Children’s Liturgy Helper – St. Peter and Paul Church – 1999- 2000

 

- Led children in bible studies along with another leader during mass.

- Children were taught the bible stories and lesson at their level.

- Bible activities were completed and children sang song and prayed.
