Introduction

What is the Care Bill?

The Care Bill represents Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility, and Excellence in medical imaging and radiation therapy.  The purpose of the Care Bill is to be sure that all patients undergoing imaging or therapy procedures involving radiation will receive quality care with minimal exposures.  The Care Bill seeks to require all states to have certified technologists to handle radiation.  Currently there are only 35 states that require technologist to be certified to operate with radiation.

Why is the Care Bill important to the general public?

Trained healthcare profesionals with a degree in Radiologic Sciences will ensure that the patient will receive the best quality care during medical imaging and therapy.  Poor quality images will lead to repeat testing and additional exposures.  All tests using radiation have a certain degree of danger, therefore, having well educated individuals perform these tests will minimize the risk of harming the patient.
