AASUCareBiLL Fundraiser

Norah's practium paper

Prior to beginning this course I was completely unaware of the type of leader that I am.  I have never officially evaluated my leadership style so this course taught me how to find my strong leadership skills and put them to use.  I do believe that I possess many of the qualities that make a good leader.  I think that I can be considered as dependable, trustworthy, hard-working, and honest.  I believe that having these qualities is the most important aspect of a great leader.
When Seema and I were considering different options for our leadership project we knew that we wanted to do something that would benefit us and our classmates.  Before entering this program I did not know anything about the CARE Bill.  The more I learned about it, the more I realized how much it will affect me and my future career.  Seema and I both feel passionate about the CARE Bill and what it means to our profession and the community as a whole.  Our ultimate goal was not only to raise money to support the CARE Bill, but also to take the time to educate the general public and other healthcare professionals of its importance.  The passage of the CARE Bill also gives us confidence that our education in radiation will not be overlooked and that we will be appreciated as highly skilled technologists to handle radiation.
Seema and I are both pleased with the outcome of our leadership project even though it was time-consuming and difficult at times.  Seema and I both took very strong leadership roles in this project.  We divided up the tasks to better prepare for our fundraiser.  While doing this project I realized how much commitment must be given to complete this type of project successfully.  Completing preparations and the final task while also carrying on with everyday life was difficult at times, but was manageable with the help from each other.  From this project I learned how to plan, organize, and manage an event with little confusion or chaos.  I feel like we also successfully accomplished our tasks of raising money to support the CARE Bill and informing and educating other about the purpose of the CARE Bill and what it means to us.
