Journal Work This rubric will be used regularly to keep students accountable for daily math journal work. Scores will be averaged to determine the overall grade for journal work. If a whole number is not the average, the grade will be given as a + or - in the appropriate category. Journal Work
	Falls Far Below 1 pts	Approaches 2 pts	Meets 3 pts	Exceeds 4 pts
Completion	Falls Far Below Very few or none of the questions or problems have been finished at all.	Approaches Not all questions or problems are finished. Complete sentences are not used.	Meets ALL questions and answers are addressed, but explanations may be incomplete. Complete sentences are not used when called for.	Exceeds ALL questions and problems are answered completely. Explanations are written in complete sentences when called for.
Math Concepts	Falls Far Below Understanding and proper use of math concetps is UNCLEAR in all responses. Proper math terminology is NOT used.	Approaches Understanding and proper use of math concetps is clear in few responses. Proper math terminology is rarely used.	Meets Understanding and proper use of math concetps is clear in most responses. Proper math terminology is used sometimes.	Exceeds Understanding and proper use of math concepts is TOTALLY CLEAR in all responses. Proper math terminology is used throughout work.
Organization and Mechanics	Falls Far Below Work is difficult to find and NOT labeled. There are many mechanical errors, and work is difficult to decipher. If I can't read it, I can't grade it!	Approaches Work is able to be found, but NOT labeled with the correct heading. Work is not spaced out and hard to read. There are several mechanical errors.	Meets Work is easy to find and heading label includes topic, date and assignment. Work is spaced properly and mostly legible. Responses are written clearly with some mechanical errors.	Exceeds Work is very easy to find and labeled with the correct heading format. Work is spaced properly and totally legible. Responses are written clearly with few or no mechanical errors.
