Application	POOR Serious exposure and/or other technique problems. Did not follow instructions or meet basic expectations.	FAIR Exposure and focus and/or other technique problems inhibit interpretation and meaning. Did not follow/complete some required concepts or parts.	SATISFACTORY Camera and/or software technique are variable but generally acceptable. Most project requirements have been satisfied.	VERY GOOD Exposure and focus factors have been applied effectively. All project requirements were met. Technique are very well applied.	EXCELLENT Student created an exemplary body of work, All project instructions were met beyond expectations.
Photography	POOR Did not demonstrate use of the principles of composition.	FAIR Elements of composition are weak. Subject matter, lighting, locations and perspectives are unremarkable.	SATISFACTORY Some composition elements are used to benefit the message of the photo. Photo explores expression. Subjects, lighting, locations, posing and perspectives show thought/understanding.	VERY GOOD Emphasis on the meaning/message of the photo. Subject is well chosen and there is a clear demonstration of the principles of composition/design. The message within the image has been conveyed very well.	EXCELLENT Composition is very engaging, interesting and expressive. Extensive thought went into subject and treatment choices. Experimentation led to very creative and imaginative perspectives.
Technical	POOR Knowledge and understanding of fundamental technology is lacking.	FAIR Very limited understanding of the technology used in this class.	SATISFACTORY Student took some care to demonstrate progress. Technology has been adequately used to complete the project.	VERY GOOD Strong classroom learning and overall technical competence is evident.	EXCELLENT Established superior knowledge/understanding of course technology.
Presentation	POOR Imagery was not matted.	FAIR Ability is limited. The presentation detracts from the image rather than enhancing it.	SATISFACTORY Some care and attention to detail is shown. Not all information is used in the best manner.	VERY GOOD Care and handling shows good insight. Presentation is neat, clean and aids the image.	EXCELLENT Presentation shows tremendous control.Care and handling are superior. An above average skill level has been clearly demonstrated.
