The student stands straight but lacks confidence. She makes an attempt to establish eye contact but does not maintain the contact.
Weak
The student slouches, looks uncomfortable and makes no eye contact with the audience at all.

The student uses expression very well to convey the emotion of the poem.

The student uses expression to convey the emotion of the poem.

The students does not manage to convey the emotion of the poem through expression.

There is no expression in the student's voice at all.

The student uses pauses effectively two or more times to improve the meaning and/or dramatic impact of the poem.

The students uses pauses only once to improve the meaning and/or dramatic impact of the poem.

The student uses pauses but they do not improve the meaning and/or dramatic impact of the poem.

The students makes no attempt to use pauses to improve the meaning and/or dramatic impact of the poem.

The student speaks clearly, distinctly and is loud enough for all to hear throughout the presentation.
Good
The student speaks clearly, distinctly but there are lapses in the volume throughout the presentation.
Fair
The student speaks clearly but is, at times, indistinct and the volume of the presentation varies during the poem.
Weak
The student does not speak clearly, mispronounces words and is inaudible to the audience.
Memorization
Excellent
The student has memorized the entire poem and is able to present it without error.
Good
The student has memorized entire poem and is able to present with just 1 error from which h/she recovers.
Fair
The student has memorized entire poem and is able to present, however makes 3+ errors and doesn't recover.
Weak
The student has not memorized the poem.
