Painting Coil Clay Project/Glazing or Painting Student was to neatly paint their project in an attractive manner with a paintbrush and select attractive colors. 	Poor 8 pts	Fair 9 pts	Good 10 pts
Presentation	Poor Too little or too much paint has been applied and is sloppy and uncontrolled. Large areas of paper are exposed. Disregard for mixing colors - student mixed colors improperly.	Fair Paint is applied somewhat neat, some brush strokes visible. Some areas of paper is exposed. Some colors were not mixed properly, some streaks. Edges are wobbly.	Good Paint is applied neatly and properly without messy brush strokes or lumpy areas. No area of paper is showing. Paints are mixed properly with no streaks. Edges are straight and neat.
Craftsmanship	Poor Student disregarded the painting techniques demonstrated in class. Little or NO attempt was made to show neatness.	Fair Student did not follow all painting techniques demonstrated in class. Some attempt was made to demonstrate neatness and good craftsmanship.	Good Student expertly used the painting techniques demonstrated in class.
Creativity/Effort	Poor Little effort or creative energy was used. Disregarded planning for the project, no attempt was made to follow directions, rushed through and did the bare minimum	Fair Completed the planning with some or little effort. Some attempt was made to follow directions and demonstrate creativity	Good Spent time and effort on completed all required planning. Presented original ideas to instructor for approval;used a unique approach that truly enhanced the project
Effective Use of Class Time	Poor Student has difficulty following directions. Often requires redirection to make better choices regarding talking, and or inappropriate behavior. May be non participating or argumentive.	Fair Occasionally requires redirection to make better choices regarding talking, and or following directions. Needs some redirection to stay focused on the assignment	Good Student independently follows directions, uses the entire class time to work, focuses on the assignment, asks for help when needed, needs no redirection for behavior
Clean up/Respect of Art Marterials	Poor Student deliberately misuses or wastes materials AND/OR does not adequately clean materials or area when reminded.	Fair Student adequately cleans and takes care of materials if reminded. Occasionally, the work area is messy.	Good Student typically keeps art materials and area clean and protected without reminders.
