Coil Clay Project/Glazing or Painting 
If using paint- student was to neatly paint their project in an attractive manner with a paintbrush and select attractive colors. If using glaze-Student was to glaze neatly according to directions. 3-4 layers of same colored glaze were to be neatly applied to all surfaces but the bottom. Bottom was not to have any glaze on it. Of painting, color os to be neatly applied .

The glaze is applied somewhat neat, some brush strokes visible. Some areas of bisque are exposed. Bottom has some glaze but few dries or chunks.

Glaze is applied neatly and properly without messy brush strokes. No area of bisque is showing. Glazes were not mixed. Glaze is not chunky or have thick drip marks. Bottom is free from glaze.
Craftsmanship

Poor

Student disregarded the glazing techniques demonstrated in class.
Little or NO attempt was made to show neatness.
Fair

Student did not follow all glazing techniques demonstrated in class.
Some attempt was made to demonstrate neatness and good craftsmanship.
Good

Student expertly used the glazing techniques demonstrated in class.
Creativity/Effort

Poor

Little effort or creative energy was used. Disregarded planning for the project, no attempt was made to follow directions, rushed through and did the bare minimum

Completed the planning with some or little effort. Some attempt was made to follow directions and demonstrate creativity
Good

Spent time and effort on completed all required planning. Presented original ideas to instructor for approval;used a unique approach that truly enhanced the project
Participation/ Use of Class Time

Poor

Student did not use their time wisely and demonstrated much of their class time involved in other things unrelated to the assignment.

Fair

Occasionally requires redirection to make better choices regarding appropriate behavior or following directions. Needs some redirection to stay focused on the assignment
Good

Student was fully engaged in their assignment without involving themselves other in distracting activities.
Independently follows directions, uses the entire class time. Asks for help when needed, needs no redirection.
Clean up/Respect of Art Marterials

Poor

Student deliberately misuses or wastes materials AND/OR does not adequately clean materials or area when reminded.
Fair

Student adequately cleans and takes care of materials if reminded. Occasionally, the work area is messy.
Good

Student typically keeps glaze materials and area clean and protected without reminders.
