Limericks Rubric Student must write a minimum of 10 limericks from different chapters in the novel.
	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
Spelling / Grammar	Excellent Spelling and grammar are virtually error free.	Good Poem has a few errors in spelling and/or grammar. Poems are easily understood.	Fair Poem has several errors in grammar and spelling which make them difficult to understand.	Poor Poem has many spelling and grammar mistakes. No effort given to correct obvious mistakes.
Poem Style Line 1 - A<BR> Line 2 - A<BR> Line 3 - B<BR> Line 4 - B<BR> Line 5 - A	Excellent Poem flows smoothly and demonstrates creativity. It is easily enjoyed and understood.	Good Poem uses the correct rhyme scheme AND demonstrates the correct rhythm. Your poem is easily understood and enjoyed.	Fair Poem uses the correct rhyme scheme OR demonstrates the correct rhythm.	Poor Poem does not use the correct rhyme scheme and also does not demonstrate the correct rhythm.
Appropriateness of Language	Excellent Poem uses precise language and sensory details that have been carefully chosen.	Good Poem demonstrates good sensory details and appropriate use of language.	Fair Little thought has been given to word choices. Poem would have been more meaningful with a few word substitutions.	Poor No thought has been given to word choices. This makes poem difficult to relate to and understand.
Neatness & Legibility	Excellent Writer's final product is neat, clean, and readable. Illustrations show excellent effort and connect with the poem.	Good Writer's print is readable. The illustrations show effort and connect with the poem.	Fair Writer's print is a somewhat unreadable. Illustrations show some effort and somewhat connect with the poem.	Poor Writer's print is not easily readable. Illustrations show no effort and does not connect with the poem.
