- One-Act Play OR Scene Festival
- Focused on an agreed upon, school-appropriate topic/theme.
- Theatre piece must be ORIGINAL and modern.
- Must have an intended message and impact that is relevant to our audience.
- ALL STUDENTS must be incorporated as actors with speaking roles.
- YOU WILL ALL be in charge of the design and directing of the production and must follow the schedule to be prepared by the final performance date.

Strong choices are made to create character fully. There is clear voice and movement that matches the character's personality. Actor remains in character throughout the performance.
Good
Character has been thoroughly portrayed. The actor uses voice and movement to match the character's personality, but could do more. Actor remains in character for most of the performance with minor lapses.
Fair
Limited characterization - breaking of character during scene. Voice and movement may be lacking or inappropriate for the character.
Poor
Character is rarely present. Voice and movement fluctuate or do not represent the character's personality. Character is unclear. Actor breaks character often.
Vocal Clarity & Tone
Excellent
Scene is easy to understand and to hear. All words are clear and loud enough to hear with good vocal variety of volume, pace, diction, and pitch.
Good
Most of the scene is easy to hear and understand but needs work on either projection or vocal variety of volume, pace, diction, and pitch.
Fair
Trouble hearing and understanding the scene. The scene lacks vocal variety of volume, pace, diction, and pitch.
Poor
Scene cannot be heard or understood and is completely monotone. There is no vocal variety of volume, pace, diction, and pitch.
Body Language
Excellent
Actor uses regular and appropriate facial expressions, gestures, and stance to portray characterization, emotion, and situation throughout the scene.
Good
Actor uses some appropriate facial expressions, gestures, and stance to portray characterization, emotion, and situation during the scene. There are lapses, but they don't directly impact the play overall.
Fair
Actor struggles to use body language throughout the scene. Character lacks facial expressions, gestures, and stance that are appropriate to the emotion and situation of the play.
Poor
Actor rarely uses body language in the scene. Body may be very stiff and rigid, or may not match the emotion, character, and situation appropriately.
Energy
Excellent
Actor remains focused and energetic throughout the performance. They are engaged and make the audience feel the same.
Good
Actor is energetic throughout most of the performance, but seems uninspired at times. They could be more engaging.
Fair
Actor has moments of energy, but overall their performance falls flat. Audience feels unengaged because of the actor's lack of energy.
Poor
Actor lacks energy and remains dull throughout. Performance is boring and un-engaging as a result.
