Active Listening	Excellent The student actively listens to the music be presented and/or to the speaker (teacher or staff) being certain to face forward, nod acknowledgment, and not engage in off-task behaviors.	Good The student needs 2-3 prompts to engage in Active Listening.	Fair The students needs 4-5 prompts to engage in Active Listening.	Poor The student does not satisfactorily engage in Active Listening despite numerous prompts.
Connecting	Excellent The student connects to the music lesson by relating knowledge and personal experiences to the material being presented.	Good The student needs 2-3 prompts to Connect.	Fair The student needs 4-5 prompts to Connect.	Poor The student does not satisfactorily Connect despite numerous prompts.
Responding	Excellent The student responds to the music lesson by asking follow up questions, or by appropriately commenting on the specific topic being addressed in the music lesson.	Good The student Responds appropriately with no more than 2 prompts and makes no more than one off-topic comment or question.	Fair The student Responds appropriately with no more than 3-4 prompts and makes no more than 2 off-topic comment or question.	Poor The student does not Respond appropriately requiring more than 5 prompts, and making more than 3 off-topic comments or questions.
