Presentation	Level 4 Rhythm is written clearly with correct notation symbols for the full 16 beats	Level 3 Rhythm is written fairly neatly with minimal notation errors.	Level 2 rhythmic composition was difficult to read or contained notation errors	Level 1 Teacher was unable to tell which notation symbols were written or contained numerous notation errors.
Composition	Level 4 Student used a variety of rhythms and there are no rhythmic errors in the composition. Includes all of the elements.	Level 3 Student used some variety but had rhythmic errors in the composition. Includes most of the elements.	Level 2 Student had little variety and had several rhythmic errors.	Level 1 Student did not include variety or had numerous errors. Student is unable to demonstrate rhythmic understanding.
Individual Performance (Optional)	Level 4 Rhythmic patterns were performed without errors. Student demonstrated an excellent understanding of beat, rhythm and vocabulary.	Level 3 Very few rhythmic errors; mistakes were only a little distracting to overall performance. Student demonstrated a sound understanding of beat and rhythm.	Level 2 Several rhythmic errors causing disruption to rhythmic flow. Student could not count beats accurately in performance.	Level 1 Performance has many rhythmic errors. Student did not understand concept of beat.
