Beginner The artwork show little or no planning. Little or no effort in the rendering of the picture. Drawing has no shadow.
Craftsmanship/ Skill	Excelling The artwork shows outstanding art making skills. pastel shows blending and form done to an outstanding level. Excellent use of paper space. Shading and shadows rendered excellently.	Developing The artwork shows average art making skills and average attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media. pastel blending and form are average in ability.	Beginner The artwork shows very minimal art making skills and no attention to control, selection and experimentation of medium/media.
Creativity/ Originality	Excelling The artwork demonstrates original personal expession and outstanding problem solving skills.	Developing The artwork demonstrates an average amount of personal expression.	Beginner The artwork lacks evidence of personal expression.
Behavior/Effort	Excelling The student put forth extraordinary effort to complete the project well; used class time extremely well. Student was responsible for cleaning his/her area up properly.	Developing The student put forth the effort required to finish the project; used class time adequately. Student sometimes cleaned his/her space.	Beginner The student put forth no effort or the project was not completed; class time was not used well. Student did not clean his/her space.
