Modern Dance Poem Project

Students are to memorize and create a dance to a poem assigned by teacher. In this poem/dance students must collaborate and use modern dance aspects such as; mirroring, echoing, symmetrical and asymmetrical posing.

Movement	Needs Work No modern dance movement was chosen, students choose not to incorporate modern dance terminology.	In-Progress There was an attempt to create a modern dance to the poem, but the movements are not specific enough to recognize as select terminology.	Good There is clear modern specific dance movement included in the piece. Symmetry, asymmetry, mirroring and echoing were all included.	Excellent All modern dance movements/terms were were conveyed clearly and accurately. Symmetry, asymmetry, mirroring and echoing were all included.
Speech	Needs Work One to two group members spoke out loud, not every one took turns speaking.	In-Progress Most of the group spoke parts of the poem, some more than others.	Good All group members spoke equally some were just more clear than others.	Excellent All group members spoke equally and clearly.
Creativity	Needs Work Students spent little to no effort preparing or rehearsing material.	In-Progress Students put some effort into creativity of the dance, there were moments of unique and thought out movements.	Good Students put in a good effort of making their dance interesting and unique, matched movements to specific words.	Excellent Students were creative in interpreting words to movements. Movement was unique and specific to their poem.
Effort/Participation	Needs Work There was no effort or thought put into the creation of the dance. Incomplete.	In-Progress There was some effort and thought put into creating a dance however dance was not complete, only some of group danced.
