Writing Structure Students are to write at least one paragraph that includes at least 4 complete sentences	Poor Story is not written in complete sentences or has less than 4 sentences.	Fair Story is written in complete sentences and has one paragraph.	Good Story is written in complete sentences and includes more than one paragraph.
Mathematical Operations Students must include a problem using rational numbers that includes at least one negative value and a solution to the problem.	Poor No problem or solution is included in the story.	Fair The problem does not include a negative rational number or the solution is incorrect.	Good The problem includes a negative rational number and the solution is correct.
Writing Convention The story should be written in complete sentences with proper spelling and punctuation.	Poor The story has many fragments, spelling errors, or punctuation errors.	Fair The story has some fragments, spelling errors, or punctuation errors.	Good The story has few fragments, spelling errors, or punctuation errors.
On Task The student should be on task throughout the project	Poor The student was repeatedly off task during the project	Fair The student was generally on task during the project	Good The student was consistently on task during the project
