Telephone Communication

Level 1

Student demonstrates ability to use a phone and appropriately identifies themselves when answering a call.
Level 2

Student demonstrates ability to use a cell phone and has texted the instructor - identifying themselves in the text.
Level 3 - Meets Standard

Student identifies themselves appropriately when answering the phone or texting, speaks clearly into the phone, is easy to understand, and uses appropriate language without interrupting speaker.
Email Communication

Level 1

Student has set up an internet email account and can explain how to access the course email.
Level 2

Student has composed a message to the instructor using both course email and internet email and can define the terms cc and bcc.
Level 3 - Meets Standard

Student is able to compose email using appropriate email etiquette by including subject line text, sentence case, & proper grammar and spelling. Student also describes the purpose of cc and bcc including confidentiality.
Group/Team Communication

Level 1

Student demonstrates ability to post a discussion. Student has made at least one discussion post.
Level 2

Student demonstrates ability to use discussion board to exchange information/ideas with team members. Student has made at least one post and has also replied to another classmate's post.
Level 3 - Meets Standard

Student has taken the initiative to contact fellow classmates to either ask questions, answer another classmate's question, and share ideas. (collaborate)
Professional Communication

Level 1

Student is able to differientiate between professional and casual/informal communication.
Level 2

Student is able to identify a specific circumstance when professional communication is appropriate and when casual/informal communication is inappropriate.
Level 3 - Meets Standard

Given a specific circumstance, student is able to adapt communication skills to varied levels of understanding and cultural orientation including diverse age, cultural, economic, ethnic and religious groups.
