EXCELLENT

The student exhibits excellent planning skills, clearly defining each phase of his or her project and mapping out the steps required to complete the overall project.
GOOD

While some fleshing out of future details may be required, the student's proposal accurately reflects their intentions and shows a satisfactory path to completion.
FAIR

The student's plan is somewhat lacking, providing only a general overview without enough of a clear path to completion.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

The student's proposal is unclear, does not define next steps, and gives no clear vision of the project as the students intends to complete it.
RESEARCH

EXCELLENT

The student has created an excellent foundation of knowledge, ability, and factual information by reviewing the available resources that will allow him or her to execute their project.
GOOD

The student has investigated their project's background material and looked into some but not all of the resources at hand. They may not be well-versed in the subject nature before they begin the project but they have done a satisfactory level of research before they start.
FAIR

The student's research is somewhat relevant but not to a satisfactory level. There is insufficient research to assist in the execution phase of the project and the student has not gained a sufficient level of understanding of the tasks required.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

The students has little or no research to direct the execution stage of their project. The student has not worked on any of the skills or tools that will be necessary to complete the project.
EFFORT/EXECUTION

EXCELLENT

The student demonstrates superior levels of effort, bringing their project to fruition, completing all aspects of their plan, and turning their vision to reality.
GOOD

The student executes on his or her project to a satisfactory level, somewhat sticking to their plan, utilizing their research and creating a solid body of work that advances their understanding of the subject matter to an adequate degree.
FAIR

The student's project is somewhat incomplete, lacking in detail, clarity, and purpose. The project shows a lack of effort and is not a cohesive body of work.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

The majority of the student's project is mostly incomplete, lacking in definition, detail, and vision. The work reflects an unsatisfactory level of effort on behalf of the student and does not benefit his or her class or community in any way.
REFLECTION/PRESENTATION

Assesses how well a student shares his or her learnings with the class and the teacher, through reflection work or in-class presentation.

EXCELLENT

The student accurately reflects on their experience with the project, honestly and clearly relating their experiences--including both success and failure--to the teacher and their fellow students. Additionally, the student provides new, helpful information to both teacher and classmates.
GOOD

The student's reflection and presentation provide a clear and satisfactory overview of their experience with the project, providing teacher and classmates with at least one take-away.
FAIR

The student is able to recall some of their experiences yet does not accurately or clearly recount them, nor is he or she able to deliver learnings, insights, or capable of recounting successes and failures.
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

The student shows no insight on his or her past experience and cannot relate any key learning or takeaways about the project for his or her class.
