iRubric: Quality of Discussion rubric

Low level discussion, with only closed-ended questions. (Factual, yes or no only). Opinion and deeper analysis of the text was not offered .

A few open-ended questions were posed that led to some discussion, but students mostly restated facts from the book and little else.

More open-ended questions were presented which helped spark a discussion. Closed-ended questions were occasionally asked for clarity. There may have been references to other texts for comparison.

There was a great deal of analysis and deeper opinions were offered. The majority of the questions were open-ended and led to new ideas. Closed-ended questions were used to help clear up confusion and led to bigger ideas.
