(20 POINTS - 4 points each section) Below is a chart that shows you exactly how your class participation grade will be determined. All students are expected to participate in class! I do understand that some students are shy and participate in ways other than class discussion.

SPANISH USE 25 % Use of Spanish in the classroom.	Excellent EXCELLENT Student always attempts to use Spanish before English. Student speaks Spanish with not only the teacher, but also class members.	Good GOOD Student often uses Spanish before English. Student often speaks Spanish with not only the teacher, but with class members too. Student could input more Spanish into conversation.	Fair FAIR Student sometimes uses Spanish before English. Student sometimes speaks Spanish with not only the teacher, but with class members too. Student needs more Spanish in conversation.	Poor POOR Student does not attempt to use Spanish before English. Student never attempts to use Spanish with the teacher or class members. Student does not use Spanish in conversations.
PUNCTUALITY 25 % Arrives to class AND on time and stays in class.	Excellent EXCELLENT Student is on time regularly for class and never leaves for bathroom/water breaks.	Good GOOD Student is usually on time and infrequently needs to leave class for bathroom/water.	Fair FAIR Student is sometimes on time and often asks to leave class for the bathroom/water.	Poor POOR Student is often late, and asks to leave class on an almost daily basis for the bathroom or water.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIOR 25 % Participates in class.	Excellent EXCELLENT Student often asks questions, participates in pair/group discussions.	Good GOOD Student sometimes asks questions, and participates in pair/group discussions.	Fair FAIR Student rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions.	Poor POOR Student never participates in class, does not participate in pair/group discussions.
PREPARATION 25 % Brings all materials.	Excellent EXCELLENT Student is always prepared for class with assignments and required materials punctually. Student takes notes without being prompted to.	Good GOOD Student is usually prepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late. Student may need to be prompted to take notes.	Fair FAIR Student is frequently unprepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late. Student may need to be prompted to take notes.	Poor POOR Student is almost always unprepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late. Student may need to be prompted to take notes.
