Pt. Assessment	Advanced Student provides thorough exam and assess indication/contraindications for the use of ultrasound. Identifies is pt. is a good candidate for US.	Beginner Student assesses pt. but does not consider all indications/contraindications. Does not provide clear reasoning for why pt. should use US.	Novice Student performs incomplete exam and does not identify whether pt. should use US or not.
Settings	Advanced Student correctly identifies parameters (pulsed vs continuous, frequency) and provides justification.	Beginner Student correctly identifies parameters but is unable to provide justification.	Novice Student provides incorrect parameters without any justification.
Preparation	Advanced Student instructs pt. on treatment and correctly positions and covers the pt.	Beginner Student provides confusing explanation for the procedure and does not effectively position or cover the patient. It may be effective, but does not meet the highest standard.	Novice Student does not explain procedure. Studnet is not mindful of pt. privacy with draping or pt. is not comfortable in the position for application.
Location	Advanced Student correctly identifies where to apply US. Avoids areas that are inappropriate.	Beginner Applies to an area too small or big. Does not effectively cover affected area.	Novice Student applies in inaapropriate area, such as near eye or maintains over bony prominences causing discomfort.
Application	Advanced Student chooses correct ultrasound head and applies sufficient gel to prevent skin irritation.	Beginner Student chooses appropriate ultrasound head but does not use appropriate amount of gel. May use too little or too much or make a mess.	Novice Student is unable to determine appropriate ultrasound head. Does not use gel or uses inappropriately.
