In the medical office or ambulatory care stting, it is the medical assistant who records the ECG; therefore, special knowledge and skills are necessary and include these aspects the correct ECG procedure: patient preparation, operation of the ECG, elilmination of artifacts, mounting, and labeling the ECG; and maintenance and care of the equipment.
