Breath Support	Minimal Student never breathes correctly and never supports the tone through the end of each phrase.	Developing Student sometimes breathes properly and only occasionally supports the tone through the end of each phrase.	Proficient Student usually breathes properly, often expands intercostal muscles and drops diaphragm, but occasionally does not support the tone throughl the end of each phrase.	Advanced Student always breathes properly. Intercostal muscles are fully expanded and diaphragm is always dropped. Student can support tone through the end of all phrases.
Posture & Relaxation	Minimal Student never demonstrates proper posture and singing stance. Tension is highly visible in the throat, jaw, and/or body.	Developing Student is sometimes standing correctly, but often shows tension or improper body position during singing.	Proficient Student occasionally stands correctly with knees bent, shoulders relaxed, pelvic area tucked. Student rarely displays body tension in throat and jaws.	Advanced Student ALWAYS stands correctly with knees bent, shoulders relaxed, pelvic area tucked and sings using a proper singing stance with no visible tension in the throat, jaws, or body.
Vowels & Consonants Musical Expression	Minimal Vowels are always wide and nasal. Consonants are never placed on words properly. Student does not follow conducting patterns and does not connect to the cultural and emotional aspects of the music.	Developing Vowels are often wide and display tension. Consonants vary on words. Student often does not respond to conducting pattern and often is disconnected to the interpretation of the music.	Proficient Vowels are often pure and relaxed. Consonants are often clean. Students mostly follows conducting patterns and sings the cultural and emotional interpretation with partial connectivity.	Advanced Vowels are always tall, pure, and relaxed. Consonants are always crisp and clean. Students always follows conducting patterns and sings the cultural and emotional interpretation with ease.
