Response Time	Advanced Immediate response with no pauses. Does not ask the questioner to repeat.	Proficient Responds promptly with some pauses throughout. Does not ask the questioner to repeat.	Developing Responds with several pauses due to lack of vocabulary recall. May ask the questioner to repeat.	Beginning No response even after the questions are repeated due to not understanding or not being able to formulate English sentences.
Relevancy (Did the student communicate effectively?)	Advanced Fluently expresses a thoughtful answer that meets all requirements of the questions. Adds other related and relevant thoughts.	Proficient Fluently expresses a thoughtful answer that meets all requirements of the questions.	Developing Partially meets the requirements of the questions.	Beginning No response or student response does not relate to the questions.
Accuracy (Grammar, word structure)	Advanced Student uses correct grammar and word structure throughout answers.	Proficient Student mainly uses correct grammar and word structure. There are some minor mistakes.	Developing Student partially uses correct grammar and word structure with many mistakes.	Beginning No response or student is unsure of the correct grammar and word structure. Student makes consistent mistakes.
Style and Tone	Advanced Student successfully and appropriately uses style and tone to expand their response.	Proficient Student successfully uses style and tone to expand their response. May not be appropriate for the setting.	Developing Student partially uses style and tone in their response.	Beginning No response or student does not utilize and/or does not have consistent style or tone.
