VIS Ballroom Competition: FOXTROT RUBRIC Foxtrot: An innovative educational dance program, providing arts and physical education to the students of Vicksburg Intermediate School. Students learn ballroom dancing for 15 weeks and compete in a school wide dance competition. Foxtrot
	Poor 2 pts	Fair 3 pts	Good 4 pts	Excellent 5 pts
Timing to Music	Poor Student does not move on the set counts.	Fair Student gets off beat quite a few times and has trouble recovering the timing.	Good Student mostly moves on the beat of the music; easily recovers if he/she gets off count.	Excellent Student consistently moves on the beat of the music throughout the entire dance.
Execution of Steps(Lead and Follow)	Poor Student almost never executes steps correctly; gets confused easily. Executes 2 or fewer steps successfully.	Fair Student sometimes executes steps correctly. Dance choreography is not mastered. Executes a portion of the steps sucessfully	Good Student executes most steps correctly. Student can easily recover if there is a misstep. Executes most steps successfully.	Excellent Student flawlessly executes all choreographed dance steps. Executes all steps successfully.
Presentation	Poor The student exhibits no effort or interest in the dances. All dances are presented in a dull manner.	Fair The student demonstrates slight differences early on, but they fade rapidly. Mood and attitude are similar for much of the dances.	Good The student adjusts their approach for each dance, but they express similar attitude. Mood and attitude are slightly adjusted for each dance.	Excellent The student demonstrates a strong understanding of each dance style and exudes a positive, confident approach to each. Strong mood and attitude differences; unique to each dance style.
