Art Composition-7th/8th Grade Art APPR Growth/Achievement Assessment Rubric for 6th Grade Art Performance Task: Demonstrate use of art elements and principles in a single composition. In Art students will refine shading and drawing skills and an understanding of what is expected in a developed successful composition. Students will demonstrate their knowledge, skill and ability level throught the creation of the Composition. Through the repetition of a single shape students are asked to use their skills to develop a successful composition that contains depth. Concept Depth	Remedial Composition is flat with no evidence of the illusion of depth	Basic Composition depicts background and foreground only	Proficient Composition that clearly depicts a background middle ground and foreground	Advanced Composition clearly depicts a background middle ground and foreground with several techniques used to create the illusion of depth
Balance	Remedial Composition is not balanced	Basic Limited concepts of balance are evident in composition	Proficient Composition is balanced successfully	Advanced Composition demonstrated high level of visual balance with the use of complex techniques
Direction	Remedial Directions were not followed	Basic Follows some directions but not all major requirement fulfilled	Proficient Follows all directions in proper sequence	Advanced Student followed the directions in sequences and exceeds expectations
Craftsmanship	Remedial Artwork is incomplete with no attention to detail	Basic Artwork is complete although unrefined with areas of careless work	Proficient Artwork is refined with an attention to detail that is at grade level	Advanced Artwork is refined with a high attention to detail that exceeds grade level
