The Boxer Project

Select a significant character from Animal Farm. One front of sheet (8.5x11), students create a visual symbolic collage of the character's role in the book/allegory. Other side: students create a verbal collage of the character's personality, role and actions, including brief summary statements, supporting quotes &citations. Boxer=95% Other significant character=100%.

Good Most images are symbolic in nature. Has 5 images.	Outstanding Has more than 5 images, and at least 5 of them are symbolic in nature.
Word Collage	Poor Words do not reflect an adequate understanding of the character or his/her role in the book or allegory. Quotes are poor or do not have proper citation.	Fair Some words reflect a deeper understanding of the character and his/her role in the book or allegory. Quotes are adequate and are cited correctly.	Good Most words reflect a deeper understanding of the character and his/her role in the book or allegory. Quotes are adequate and are cited correctly.	Outstanding Words and quotes depict a deep understanding of the character and his/her role in the book or allegory. They are the best quotes for the characteristic listed and are cited correctly.
Quality of Images	Poor Images are poor in quality. Shoddy workmanship and an obvious last minute job.	Fair Images are adequate in their quality and presentation. Still shows little thought or effort in its presentation.	Good Images are good and clear and colorful. The organization of images is well planned.	Outstanding Outstanding images and clarity. Word Collage Quality	Poor Words are illegible. Presentation of Word Collage is sloppy and reflects little thought or effort.
