Culture Drawing 
The student will create a drawing using similar techniques of an artist of their choice from the impressionism, post-impressionism, or cubism time period. While researching the artist the student must acknowledge how the artist’s culture influenced their work. The drawing must involve something that represents the student's culture. During critique each student must use proper vocabulary and present their work while discussing the artist they chose.

The student's work is demonstrated with some neatness but is not completely finished.

The student work is demonstrated neatly and the piece is finished, but a few errors are visible.
Outstanding

The student work is demonstrated neatly. The paper is clean, eraser marks are not visible, and the piece is finished.
Artist/Technique Relevant

Poor

The student did not demonstrate knowledge of the specific artist or time period.
Fair

The student finished the project, but it lacks the students culture being demonstrated.
Good

The student gave great effort and the drawing is relevant to the artist and culture of the student.
Outstanding

The students gave effort far beyond the requirements of the project. The work was relevant to the artist and culture of the student.
Presentation/Vocabulary

Poor

The student shows lack of understanding. The use of proper vocabulary was nonexistent and the presentation was difficult to understand.
Fair

The student showed understanding of artist and culture, but lacked ability to demonstrate vocabulary properly.
Good

The student showed above average skill. It was evident that the student gained knowledge of different artistic techniques. The presentation was done in a timely manner, and some vocabulary was used.
Outstanding

The presentation was done in a timely manner and the student demonstrated understanding of the artist of their choice. Vocabulary was used properly during the presentation.
Creativity

Poor

The student could not demonstrate the use of culture in his own work. The delivery was irrelevant and style was not used.
Fair

The student was able to tell why they chose to create the piece, but their own culture was not included.
Good

The student could explain how and why they made the decision to create the piece in the way it was completed.
Outstanding

The student was able to articulate the culture in their work and it represents their own twist on demonstration.
Participation

Poor

The student did not use any elements or principles to critique. The student was inactive during critique.
Fair

The student was rarely active during the critique and did not elaborate or show an understanding of the art criticism process.
Good

The student showed above average skill in critiquing their work and showed what they have learned about the elements and principles of design.
Outstanding

The student participated regularly in critique. The student incorporated the elements and principles of design and showed what they have learned about art criticism in detail.
