Group Participation Grade Criteria 
Below is a chart that shows you exactly how your group participation grade will be evaluated. All scholars are expected to participate in their group! Scholars should understand that their participation mark begins at 0 and then is built up through active participation.

Excellent

Asks questions, participates in pair/group discussions and work.
Constructively discusses with partner/group without prompting. Completes activity with no prompting or refocusing.
Good

Asks questions, and participates in pair/group discussions and work. Constructively discusses with partner/group with much prompting.
Sometimes, needs to be prompted to work on assignment.
Fair

Rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions. Sometimes argues with partner or group member, but can constructively discuss with partner/group when redirected.
Needs to be prompted to work on assignment.
Poor

Never participates in class, does not participate in pair/group discussions. Argues with partner or group members.
Almost always needs to be prompted to work on assignment.
BEHAVIOR

Excellent

Group always behaves appropriately with each other.
Group members do not need to be reminded of classroom expectations.
(No re-directions)
Good

Group usually behaves appropriately with each other.
Group members do not usually need to be reminded of classroom expectations.
(No more than 1 re-direction to remain on task)
Fair

Group sometimes behaves appropriately with each other.
Group members need to be reminded of classroom expectations.
(No more than 2-3 re-directions)
Poor

Group never behaves appropriately with each other.
Group needs to be reminded of classroom expectations often.
(More than 3 re-directions)
WORK ETHIC

Excellent

Group members work the entire period (bell to bell) on assignments given, and never wastes time or works on material unrelated to the class.
Group members meet the expectations of the assignment.
Good

Group members usually works most of the period (bell to bell) on assignments, and rarely wastes time or works on material unrelated to the class.
Group members meet most of the expectations of the assignment.
Fair

Group members sometimes wastes time, does not work the entire period on assignments, and will often work on material unrelated to the class.
Group members do not meet all of the expectations of the assignment.
Poor

Group members frequently wastes class time, does not work the entire class period, and often works on material unrelated to the class.
Group members do not meet any of the expectations of the assignment.
